I am ready for bed. I want to thank you for allowing us to join your blog site. Maureen and I discovered we are three to five pounds (depending on the day) different in weight, me being the heavier. Mallory has been telling me how much this blog has helped her. She has done a fantastic job setting goals and keeping them.
My goals are: no sugar (cookies, cakes, etc.) not natural sugars
drinking at least 3 bottles of water a day
Getting 3 days a week of exercise
Man after today just sticking to the no sugar thing will be a miracle. It seemed like there was candy, cookies, even a pie at work today. EKKKKKKKKKKKK every where I turned there was something tempting with sugar in it.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I stay away from those things?

Hi, Peggy! So glad you joined the blog!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a brilliant suggestion for keeping away from sweets, but I don't. I have a major sweet tooth and the only thing that has really helped me has been tracking my calories on livestrong.com. It makes you realize what exactly you're putting in your body. That's made it easier for me to stay away from stuff. To a degree. And also exercising. When I work out, I don't want to eat that stuff - as much.
And maybe don't totally deprive yourself. Personally I have to let myself have a little something when I'm craving bad for me stuff because if I don't, I will end up binge eating every bad for me thing I can find at some point.
I've had people suggest bringing your own sweet stuff, like fruit, and then eat that instead of pie or whatever. That hasn't really worked for me, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you.
That's all I've got. Hope it helps. :)
Mom,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you decided to join us, the thing I think helps me the most is tracking on livestrong.com and then you can set goals for yourself. I like livestrong because it really shows what is in every food that you eat. Especially when you go out to eat. For example, sodium. I like to keep it under 2000mg of sodium but I have had days where I ate fairly well calorie wise but have had 4000 mg of sodium.
I am glad you joined the blog!
