I'm really excited about this blog and to have a place to talk about my weight woes. I'm up for a challenge too! My goals today: I am sitting around waiting for Fedex because we bought a condo and we have to fill out all the paperwork today so I won't make it to the gym. But, I want to make sure I drink my water today.

Thanks for the invitation
Hi. Goodness I don't even know where to begin. My name is Cassa Fox. I've been married for 2 years and have a 19 month old boy and an 8 year old step son. We've lived in Grand Junction for a year and we love it here. So...how I got here. Lori is such an intuitive person that one day she asked how I was doing and I couldn't control the tears. It was a really bad day. First, I had a conversation with my mom about my weight the night before and it wasn't great. She was trying to be supportive, but she can be very overbearing about it. I was feeling very obese (I hate that word) and discouraged about how I got here. Second, my husband and I would like to have another baby and I found out I had to go back on birth control for 3 months to regulate my cycles. After getting over all of that anxiety I looked at the 3 months as a great time to get my body back on track. I joined weight watchers and the journey started...again. I've always had problems with my weight. I feel like I have to exercise every day and when I eat junk it takes forever to get it off. But, sometimes I like junk. Sometimes I like a Blizzard and other treats. I exercise regularly at Crossroads so I got that one down. It's just the eating for me. I'm an emotional eater. Weight Watchers is helping. When I started there 3 weeks ago I weighed 190 lbs. The following week I lost 1.4 lbs. I am supposed to weigh in today but I can't get there so I will go on Saturday. My other weakness is that I really like Pepsi. I used to drink a 32 oz. every day. Now I've cut it down to 2 small ones during the week.

Hi Cassa! I am glad that you are joining us! I have found that for me, this blog has been the biggest support. I hope you find it as helpful as I do. What do you eat during the day? We are huge fans of tracking the calories that we eat. I know that there is some tracking of points with weight watchers but maybe at least check out livestrong.com it's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI too used to be a pepsi addict. I used to hate diet soda but now I do drink more of it than I should. Now, after about 8 months or so, I don't even miss it.
Welcome to the blog, Cassa! I hope you find it helpful! Good for you for going back to weight watchers. I know exactly what you mean about junk. I try to stay away, but sometimes I just want it.
ReplyDeleteI workout at Crossroads, too. What kind of workouts do you do? I use the elliptical a lot (when I'm actually working out) and I really like pilates class. They've hired a new Zumba teacher I hear she's really good, so I might try that again.
Welcome to the blog! I hope that it works out for you. I completely understand about the whole junk thing. I too know how to exercise and can do it regularly. But I have a problem with food. I like sweets and I can't seem to kick the habit. It's been a real struggle trying not to eat junk (especially since I have a husband that can eat anything and everything that he wants and not gain an ounce).
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm definitely a sweets person too! But I've noticed the longer I go without it, the less I crave it. But man, if I give in, that's all I think about! lol Also, I think for me it's really important to not have anything junky or sweety in my house at all. I know that if it's there, I'll eat it. I will, I know, so I just don't bring it in at all.
ReplyDeleteI also think Diet soda is the way to go if you don't want to cut it out all the way (trust me, I love soda too!). You won't miss the real sugar in just a week or so and you'll be automatically cutting out a TON of calories.
And good for you for looking at this three months as a time to focus on you and get to a place you want to be! I think we all need to remember that we're important as well, not just our kids.
I'm going to reiterate what Mallory said too - tracking is really important when you're stalled in weight loss. I know that even after all the weight I've lost over the years, if I don't track, my calories seem to go way over what they should be without me even knowing it. Try out livestrong.com even though you're already doing WW. Also, has anyone told you how many calories you should be consuming daily? Never go below 1200 b/c your body goes into starvation mode. I normally try to shoot for between 1250 and 1300. It's also important to get a fair amount of protein in as well, especially if you're working out consistently or intensely.
AND can I just say I'm mad at you (ok, not really)... but moving?! Arrr at you!! (seriously I am happy for you though)
