So I have been thinking a lot about if I can lose as much weight as I want to without joining a group or a weight loss club like Slim4life or LA Weightloss. I would like to think that I can do it, however I just don't know if I will. I don't know if I need the pressure of someone looking at my food diary and saying, um well you know that peanut butter isn't on your diet right? That's why you didn't lose two pounds this week.
I have been doing some research and came up with a group called TOPS (Taking off pounds Sensibly) and they are basically a weight loss support group. Has anyone heard of them?

I haven't heard of them - what's it about? Do you pay to go in and weigh or what?
ReplyDeleteI agree, being accountable to someone other than yourself is key. THat's what I was hoping with this, but it just hasn't worked out the way that I was hoping. I have been thinking about this exact same thing lately. I know that I don't have as much to lose, but I'd still like to lose around 10 lbs (more would be awesome, but I'm realistic) and it seems that without being accountable, that's not going to happen... plus I keep slowly gaining, which is NOT what I want to happen.
I was thinking about asking at my gym what their personal training options are. I don't necessarily want a "personal trainer" in the sense of someone watching me work out and whatnot. What I'm wondering, is do they have an option where you can meet with one for like 15-20 min every week or twice a week and they look over your food/exercise journal and weigh you? I wonder if they have an option like that and how much it would be.... I'll have to check it out sometime.... ya know, when I actually feel well enough to go back into the gym (which I'm hoping is Monday).
I hope you find something too!
I haven't heard of them, either. Is it a local support group or something you do online? Is there a dietician involved?
ReplyDeleteIt's a local support group and they also do a presentation on healthy living. You go and do a weigh in and then the meeting is an hour. It costs 26 dollars a year plus 3-5 per month depending on the group you join, so worst case is 86 dollars per year. I am not sure if there is a dietician involved or not, they invite you to come to your first meeting for free.
ReplyDeleteJust in case you guys wanted to check it out their website is www.tops.org. I saw it in the Thornton newspaper that they have a meeting near me.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. Are you going to go to their meeting?
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I am so conflicted about it. I don't want to do something that I will just eventually quit. I do think that I will go check out a meeting. Maybe. Someday. Ug, I probably won't go by myself for sure.
